Ingredients
- 14 oz firm tofu
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce
- ¼ cup fried shallots
- ½ lemon
Instructions
- 1
Pat the 14 oz firm tofu dry with paper towels, then cut into 1-inch cubes. Pat again to remove as much moisture as possible.
- 2
Heat 3 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering. Add the tofu cubes in a single layer and cook undisturbed until golden brown on the bottom, about 4 minutes.
- 3
Flip the tofu and cook until all sides are golden and crispy, about 6 more minutes. The tofu should feel firm and look deeply browned.
- 4
Reduce heat to low and pour in 3 tbsp sweet soy sauce. Stir gently to coat the tofu, cooking for 1 minute until the sauce thickens slightly and clings to the cubes.
- 5
Transfer the tofu to a plate, sprinkle with 1/4 cup fried shallots, and squeeze the juice of 1/2 lemon over the top. Serve hot.
