Ingredients
- 1 lb white fish fillets
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 1 lemon lemon wedges
Instructions
- 1
Cut the 1 lb fish fillets into 2-inch pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
In a shallow bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1 tsp paprika, 1 tsp salt, and 0.5 tsp black pepper.
- 3
Beat 1 egg in another shallow bowl. Dip each fish piece into the egg, then coat with the flour mixture, shaking off excess.
- 4
Heat 1 cup oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 2 minutes. Test with a pinch of flour—it should sizzle.
- 5
Fry the fish in batches without crowding, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 6
Transfer fried fish to a paper-towel-lined plate. Serve hot with lemon wedges.
- 7
Squeeze lemon over the fish before eating, if desired.
