Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¾ cup water
- ¼ cup vegetable oil
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the 2 cups flour and 1 teaspoon salt. Gradually add the 3/4 cup water and 2 tablespoons of the oil, stirring until a soft dough forms, about 2 minutes.
- 2
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 15 minutes.
- 3
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. On a floured surface, roll each piece into a very thin circle, about 12 inches wide, using a rolling pin.
- 4
Brush each circle with 1 tablespoon of the melted butter. Stack the circles on top of each other, then roll the stack into a tight log. Coil the log into a spiral and flatten slightly with your hands.
- 5
Roll the spiral into a 10-inch round, about 1/4 inch thick. Place it on a greased baking sheet and brush the top with the remaining 2 tablespoons oil.
- 6
Sprinkle the 2 tablespoons sesame seeds over the top, pressing them in gently. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown and puffed.
- 7
Let cool for 5 minutes, then cut into wedges and serve warm.
