Ingredients
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 whole orange (zest + juice)
- 4 whole green cardamom pods, crushed
Instructions
- 1
Mix flour and baking soda in a bowl with 3 tbsp water to form a thick, pipeable batter (like pancake mix).
- 2
Heat sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and cardamom with 0.5 cup water in a saucepan over medium. Stir until sugar dissolves, ~3 minutes. Set syrup aside.
- 3
Preheat air fryer to 350°F. Transfer batter into a piping bag fitted with a small round tip.
- 4
Pipe 3-inch spiral coils of batter directly onto the air fryer basket. Don't overcrowd—work in two batches.
- 5
Air fry 4–5 minutes until golden brown and crispy. The spirals will puff and firm up.
- 6
Immediately transfer hot jalebi to the warm syrup and soak for 30 seconds per side, then lift onto a plate.
