Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 3 cups vegetable oil (for frying)
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp salt

    Combine water, butter, and salt in a small pot. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

    Remove from heat. Stir in flour until a thick dough forms. Let cool 2 minutes.

    Mix cinnamon and sugar in a shallow bowl. Set aside.

    Heat oil in a deep, heavy pot to 375°F. Use a thermometer to check temperature.

    Transfer dough to a churrera or piping bag fitted with a large star tip.

    Pipe 4-inch strips of dough into hot oil. Fry 4–6 churros at a time to avoid crowding.

    Fry until golden brown on both sides, 2–3 minutes total. Transfer to paper towels with a slotted spoon.
