Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups rotisserie chicken, shredded
  • 1 cup cooked rice (white or basmati)
  • 4 sheets phyllo dough sheets
  • 5 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ¾ cup canned chickpeas, drained
  • ¾ cup plain yogurt
  • 1 whole lemon (juiced)

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. Mix shredded chicken, cooked rice, allspice, 0.5 tsp salt, and pepper in a bowl.

  2. 2

Brush a phyllo sheet with olive oil, place on a baking sheet, and add 2 tbsp chicken-rice filling in the center.

  3. 3

Fold phyllo corners over filling to create a rough square. Brush with oil and repeat with remaining sheets.

  4. 4

Bake ouzi until phyllo is golden brown and crisp, about 12–14 minutes.

  5. 5

Meanwhile, whisk yogurt with lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Toss warm chickpeas with 1 tbsp olive oil and warm spices.

  6. 6

Serve hot ouzi alongside yogurt sauce and spiced chickpeas (fatteh).
