Ingredients

  • 1 lb squid, cleaned and cut into 1/4-inch rings
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups neutral oil for frying
  • 1 whole lemon

    Pat squid rings dry with paper towels. Mix flour, salt, and black pepper in a shallow bowl.

    Heat oil in a heavy skillet to 350°F (or until a pinch of flour sizzles instantly on contact).
