Ingredients

  • 4 whole hot dogs
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup

Instructions

  1. 1

Cut the 4 hot dogs into thirds and thread each piece onto a skewer, leaving space between pieces.

  2. 2

In a bowl, whisk together 1 cup cornmeal, 1 cup flour, 1 tbsp baking powder, and a pinch of salt.

  3. 3

Add 1 cup milk and 1 egg to the dry ingredients; stir until just combined (batter should be lumpy).

  4. 4

Dip each skewer into the batter, coating all sides, then let excess drip off.

  5. 5

Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F. Fry skewers in batches for 3-4 minutes until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally.

  6. 6

Mix 2 tbsp honey and 2 tbsp ketchup in a small bowl. Brush the glaze over the hot corn dog skewers before serving.
