- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 4 tablespoon butter

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan with 1 tablespoon of the butter.

In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 cup cornmeal, 1/2 cup flour, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder.

Melt the remaining 3 tablespoons butter. Stir the melted butter and 1 cup milk into the dry ingredients until just combined; do not overmix.
