Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 3 whole Thai bird's-eye chilies (or serrano), sliced thin
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • ½ tsp brown sugar
  • 8 leaves butter lettuce or romaine leaves, whole

Instructions

    Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 60 seconds.

    Add beef, breaking apart with a spoon, until no pink remains and edges are browned, 5–6 minutes.

    Stir in garlic and chilies; cook until fragrant, about 45 seconds.

    Pour in fish sauce, lime juice, and sugar; toss to coat and remove from heat.

    Serve beef spooned into lettuce leaves. Eat with your hands.
