Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- ¾ cup water
- ½ cup tomato sauce
- 1.5 cups mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, mix 2 cups flour, 1 tsp yeast, and 1 tsp salt. Add 2 tbsp olive oil and 0.75 cup warm water; stir until a shaggy dough forms.
- 2
Knead the dough on a floured surface for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 30 minutes, until doubled.
- 3
Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C) with a baking sheet inside. Punch down the dough and divide into 2 balls. Roll each into a 9-inch round, about 1/4 inch thick.
- 4
Spread 1/4 cup tomato sauce over each round, leaving a 1/2-inch border. Sprinkle 3/4 cup mozzarella evenly over each.
- 5
Carefully transfer the manoushe onto the hot baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly with browned spots.
- 6
Remove from oven, drizzle with remaining 1 tbsp olive oil, and serve hot.
