Ingredients
- 1 lb pizza dough
- 2 medium tomatoes
- 8 oz fresh mozzarella
- 1 cup fresh basil leaves
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while it heats.
- 2
On a floured surface, stretch or roll the 1 lb pizza dough into a 12-inch round. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza peel.
- 3
Slice the 2 tomatoes and 8 oz mozzarella into 1/4-inch thick rounds. Arrange them over the dough, alternating tomato and mozzarella, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
- 4
Bake the pizza for 12-15 minutes, until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 5
Remove from the oven and immediately scatter the 1 cup basil leaves over the hot pizza. Drizzle with the 2 tbsp olive oil, then sprinkle with the 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp black pepper.
- 6
Let the pizza rest for 2 minutes before slicing and serving warm.
