Ingredients

  • 4 pieces thin pork or chicken cutlets
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 cup milk

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the 4 cutlets with salt and pepper. Beat the 1 egg in a shallow dish, place the 1 cup breadcrumbs on a plate. Dip each cutlet in egg, then press into breadcrumbs to coat both sides.

  2. 2

Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Cook the breaded cutlets until golden and cooked through, about 3 minutes per side. Transfer to a plate.

  3. 3

In the same skillet, melt the 2 tbsp butter over medium. Whisk in the 2 tbsp flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbly. Slowly whisk in the 1 cup milk, stirring until the sauce thickens, about 3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

  4. 4

Serve the cutlets with the white sauce spooned over, alongside steamed green beans and mashed potatoes (if you have them).
