Ingredients

  • 1 lb beef steak (such as sirloin or ribeye)
  • 8 slices bacon
  • 4 pieces sandwich bread or rolls
  • 4 slices cheese slices (such as cheddar or provolone)
  • 4 leaves lettuce
  • 1 medium onion
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Season the 1 lb beef steak with a pinch of salt and pepper on both sides. Let it sit at room temperature for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

Cook the 8 bacon slices in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 6-8 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate, leaving the bacon fat in the skillet.

  3. 3

In the same skillet, cook the seasoned steak over medium-high heat for 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then slice thinly against the grain.

  4. 4

While the steak rests, slice the 1 medium onion into thin rings. In a small bowl, mix the 4 tbsp mayonnaise with a pinch of salt and pepper.

  5. 5

Toast the 4 bread pieces in a toaster or on a dry skillet until golden, about 2 minutes. Spread the seasoned mayonnaise on the cut sides.

  6. 6

Layer the lettuce leaves, sliced beef, crispy bacon, onion rings, and 4 cheese slices on the bottom bread. Top with the other bread and press gently.

  7. 7

If you like, place the assembled sandwiches in a warm skillet for 1-2 minutes per side to melt the cheese. Serve immediately.
