Ingredients

  • 300 g beef sirloin or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fish sauce
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp honey
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 150 g daikon radish, julienned
  • 150 g carrots, julienned
  • ¼ cup rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 whole Vietnamese baguettes
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • ¼ cup fresh cilantro
  • ¼ cup fresh mint
  • 1 whole jalapeño, sliced
  • ½ whole cucumber, sliced

Instructions

  1. 1

Combine soy sauce, fish sauce, minced garlic, honey, and black pepper in a bowl. Add sliced beef and toss to coat. Let marinate for 15 minutes.

  2. 2

In a separate bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Add julienned daikon and carrots, toss well, and let sit for 10 minutes to soften.

  3. 3

Slice baguettes lengthwise and lightly toast if desired.

  4. 4

Heat a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add marinated beef in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until caramelized and cooked through. Set aside.
