Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 6 sheets phyllo sheets (thawed if frozen)
  • 4 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and sliced thin
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1

Preheat oven to 400°F. Toss apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and vanilla in a bowl.

  2. 2

Brush a 10-inch cast-iron skillet with melted butter. Layer 3 phyllo sheets into the skillet, brushing each with butter.

  3. 3

Spread apple mixture evenly over phyllo. Layer remaining 3 phyllo sheets on top, brushing each with butter.

  4. 4

Cut phyllo into a lattice pattern (diagonal lines both directions) without cutting through to the apples.

  5. 5

Bake until phyllo is golden brown and apples are tender, 12-14 minutes.

  6. 6

Remove from oven and dust generously with powdered sugar while still warm. Serve immediately.
