Ingredients
- 2 medium apples
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk
- 2 cups vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Peel and core the 2 apples, then chop into small 1/2 inch pieces. Set aside.
- 2
In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 cup flour, 2 tbsp sugar, 1 tsp baking powder, and 1 tsp cinnamon.
- 3
In a small bowl, beat the 1 egg and 0.5 cup milk. Pour into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined; the batter should be lumpy.
- 4
Fold the chopped apples into the batter until evenly coated.
- 5
Heat the 2 cups vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high until a drop of batter sizzles, about 350°F. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil, frying in batches without crowding.
- 6
Fry each fritter until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels and serve warm.
- 7
Optional: dust with extra sugar or cinnamon before serving.
