Ingredients

  • 1 whole cake (8–10 oz baked) store-bought cake (chocolate or vanilla)
  • ½ cup frosting (canned or homemade)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or shortening
  • ½ cup sprinkles (rainbow, pearl, or nonpareils)
  • 12 sticks cake pop sticks or lollipop sticks
  • 1 sheet parchment paper
  • 1 bowl microwave-safe bowl

Instructions

  1. 1

Crumble the cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl. You should have about 3 cups loosely packed.

  2. 2

Add frosting and stir until the mixture holds together when squeezed. It should feel like damp sand.

  3. 3

Roll the mixture into 12 balls about the size of walnuts. Place them on parchment paper.

  4. 4

Melt chocolate chips and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second bursts, stirring until smooth.

  5. 5

Dip the tip of each stick into melted chocolate, then push it halfway into a cake ball. Let set 30 seconds.

  6. 6

Dip each pop into chocolate, twirl to coat, tap off excess, then immediately roll in sprinkles. Serve.
