Homemade Cheeseburger with Lettuce, Tomato, and Pickles
These homemade cheeseburgers are simple, juicy, and comforting—just the kind you’d make on a weeknight when everyone’s hungry. A well-seasoned beef patty cooks until nicely browned, then gets topped with melted cheddar and tucked into a soft sesame bun with crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, and a few pickles. It’s a classic burger that feels homemade, messy in the best way, and perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 works best for juicy burgers)
- 2 sesame seed hamburger buns
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 leaves lettuce
- 2 slices tomato
- 1 4–6 pickle slices
- 1 tbsp butter or oil (for cooking)
- 1 ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 Optional: ketchup, mustard, or mayo
Instructions
- 1
Start by shaping the ground beef into two burger patties. Try not to pack the meat too tightly—just gently press it together so the burgers stay tender.
- 2
Sprinkle salt and black pepper on both sides of each patty.
- 3
Heat a skillet or pan over medium-high heat and add a little butter or oil.
- 4
Place the patties in the hot pan and cook for about 3–4 minutes on the first side until a nice brown crust forms.
- 5
Flip the burgers and cook another 3–4 minutes until they reach your preferred doneness.
- 6
Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each burger during the last minute of cooking so it melts over the patty.
- 7
While the cheese melts, lightly toast the hamburger buns in the same pan or another skillet for about 30–60 seconds until warm and slightly crisp.
- 8
Place the cheesy burger patty onto the bottom bun.
- 9
Add lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles on top of the burger. If you like, add ketchup, mustard, or mayo.
- 10
Place the top bun on the burger, press lightly, and serve warm.
