Ingredients

  • 1 loaf baguette or ciabatta
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 4 medium Roma tomatoes
  • 8 leaves fresh basil
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 0 to taste salt and pepper

Instructions

    Slice bread diagonally into 1/2-inch-thick slices.

    Core tomatoes and dice into 1/4-inch pieces; place in a bowl.

    Mince garlic finely. Tear basil into bite-sized pieces.

    Heat a skillet over medium-high. Brush both sides of bread with oil.

    Toast bread until golden and crispy on both sides, ~2 minutes each.

    Rub hot toast with cut side of raw garlic clove until fragrant.

    Top each slice with tomatoes and basil. Season with salt and pepper.

    Drizzle balsamic vinegar lightly over tops. Serve immediately.
