Ingredients
- 14 oz firm tofu
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp calamansi or lemon juice
- 1 medium onion
- 2 red chili peppers
- 3 green onions
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Press the 14 oz tofu for 10 minutes, then cut into 1/2-inch cubes. Pat dry with paper towels.
- 2
In a small bowl, mix 3 tbsp soy sauce and 2 tbsp calamansi or lemon juice. Set aside.
- 3
Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Add tofu cubes in a single layer and cook until golden and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Do not crowd the pan; work in batches if needed.
- 4
Add 1 diced onion and 2 sliced red chilies to the skillet. Cook until onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- 5
Pour the soy-calamansi mixture over the tofu. Stir to coat and cook for 1-2 minutes until the sauce is absorbed and sizzling.
- 6
Remove from heat. Stir in 3 chopped green onions and sprinkle with 1 tbsp sesame seeds. Serve hot over rice.
