Ingredients
- 1 lb octopus tentacles
- 1 medium carrot
- 3 stalks scallions
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 whole dried red chilies
- ½ cup water
Instructions
- 1
Cut the 1 lb octopus tentacles into bite-size pieces. Peel the 1 medium carrot and slice into thin strips. Slice the 3 scallions into 2-inch lengths, separating white and green parts.
- 2
Place the octopus, carrot strips, and white scallion parts in a heatproof dish that fits in your steamer. Pour 0.5 cup water around the edges.
- 3
Steam over high heat until the octopus is tender and opaque, about 10-12 minutes. The carrot should be just crisp-tender.
- 4
In a small bowl, mix 2 tbsp soy sauce with 2 tbsp of the steaming liquid. Pour this over the octopus and vegetables.
- 5
Top with the green scallion parts and 2 dried red chilies. Serve hot, letting the chilies infuse as you eat.
