Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp chili oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

    Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl.

    Add warm water gradually and stir until a soft, slightly sticky dough forms.

    Knead dough on a lightly floured surface for 2 minutes until smooth and elastic.

    Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each into a ball, then flatten slightly.

    Place mantou on parchment squares in a steamer basket, cover, and steam for 12 minutes until puffed.
