Ingredients
- 2 pounds clams
- ¼ cup fish sauce
- ½ cup water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 3 cloves garlic
- 4 stalks green onions
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Instructions
- 1
Scrub the 2 pounds clams under cold water and discard any that are open or cracked. Set aside.
- 2
In a small bowl, stir together the 1/4 cup fish sauce, 1/2 cup water, and 1 tablespoon sugar until the sugar dissolves.
- 3
Mince the 3 garlic cloves and slice the 4 green onions, separating white and green parts. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat and add the garlic and white parts of the green onions; cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- 4
Add the clams and the fish sauce mixture to the pot. Cover and steam until the clams open, about 5-7 minutes, shaking the pot occasionally. Discard any clams that stay closed.
- 5
Stir in the green parts of the green onions and the 1 tablespoon sesame seeds. Serve immediately with the cooking liquid spooned over the top.
