Ingredients

  • 14 oz (1 block) firm tofu
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp ginger, minced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 stalks scallions, sliced

Instructions

  1. 1

Press tofu between paper towels for 2 minutes to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

Cut tofu into 1/2-inch-thick slabs. Heat oil in a 10-inch skillet over medium-high until shimmering.

  3. 3

Pan-fry tofu slabs 3 minutes per side without moving until golden brown. Transfer to a plate.

  4. 4

In the same skillet, stir ginger and garlic for 30 seconds until fragrant.

  5. 5

Add soy sauce and water, scraping up browned bits. Return tofu to skillet and coat in glaze for 1 minute.

  6. 6

Slide onto plates and scatter scallions over top. Serve immediately.
