Ingredients
- 1 lb sushi-grade tuna steak
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp wasabi paste
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 2 stalks scallions
- 1 tsp black sesame seeds
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
- 1
Pat the 1 lb tuna steak dry with paper towels. Cut it into 1-inch cubes and season lightly with salt and pepper.
- 2
In a small bowl, whisk together the 3 tbsp mayonnaise, 1 tbsp wasabi paste, and 1 tbsp soy sauce until smooth. Set aside.
- 3
Heat the 1 tbsp vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat until shimmering. Add the tuna cubes in a single layer and sear for 1 minute per side, until browned outside but still rare inside.
- 4
Transfer the seared tuna to a plate and let rest for 2 minutes. Slice the 2 scallions thinly.
- 5
Drizzle the wasabi sauce over the tuna bites, then sprinkle with the sliced scallions and 1 tsp black sesame seeds. Serve immediately.
- 6
If you like extra heat, add more wasabi to the sauce or serve with extra on the side.
