Ingredients
- 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (store-bought)
- 4 oz fresh mozzarella, cut into small cubes
- 2 oz sliced ham, torn into small pieces
- 8 oz frozen french fries
- 2 cups neutral cooking oil for deep frying
- 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions
- 1
Divide pizza dough into 4 equal pieces. Flatten each piece into a 3-inch circle on a floured surface.
- 2
Place a small handful of mozzarella and ham on half of each circle. Fold dough over to create a half-moon and pinch edges tightly to seal.
- 3
Heat oil in a deep skillet or saucepan to 350°F over medium-high heat. Test with a small piece of dough—it should sizzle and float immediately.
- 4
Carefully place 2 pizza fritta into the hot oil. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until deep golden brown and puffed.
- 5
Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Repeat with remaining fritta. Season lightly with salt.
- 6
Bake or air-fry frozen fries according to package directions while fritta cooks. Serve hot with fries on the side.
