Ingredients

  • 4 links rostbratwurst sausages
  • 2 medium yellow onion, sliced into thin half-moons
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp whole-grain mustard
  • 1 pinch salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. 1

Heat oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 1 minute.

  2. 2

Add sausages and sear without moving for 4 minutes until deep golden brown on the underside.

  3. 3

Flip sausages and sear another 4 minutes until browned all over and cooked through.

  4. 4

Transfer sausages to a plate. Add onions to the skillet and stir occasionally until edges turn golden, 6 minutes.

  5. 5

Pour in broth, scraping up browned bits. Return sausages to pan and simmer gently for 3 minutes.

  6. 6

Stir in mustard and season with salt and pepper. Serve sausages topped with onion-mustard sauce.
