Ingredients

  • 2 cups cooked sushi rice or short-grain rice, still warm
  • 1 tbsp umeboshi (pickled plum paste) or white miso
  • ½ sheet nori (seaweed sheets), cut into thin strips
  • ½ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. 1

Fill a small bowl with cool water and add a pinch of salt—this prevents sticking.

  2. 2

Wet both hands in the salt water, then grab 1/2 cup warm rice in your palm.

  3. 3

Make a thumbprint indent in the center and add 0.5 tsp umeboshi or miso paste.

  4. 4

Cover paste with a pinch of rice, then gently shape into a tight triangle.

  5. 5

Wrap a strip of nori around the bottom. Repeat with remaining rice.

  6. 6

Serve immediately while still warm, or wrap in plastic for later.
