Ingredients

  • 2 fillets mackerel fillets
  • 2 tbsp white miso paste
  • 1 tbsp mirin
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • ½ cup daikon radish
  • 2 stalks green onions

Instructions

  1. 1

In a small bowl, whisk together the 2 tbsp miso, 1 tbsp mirin, and 1 tbsp soy sauce until smooth. Pat the 2 mackerel fillets dry and coat them evenly with the marinade.

  2. 2

Let the fillets sit at room temperature for 10 minutes while you preheat the broiler. Line a baking sheet with foil and place the fillets skin-side down.

  3. 3

Broil the mackerel 6 inches from the heat until the top is caramelized and the fish flakes easily with a fork, about 6-8 minutes.

  4. 4

While the fish cooks, peel and julienne the 0.5 cup daikon into thin matchsticks. Slice the 2 green onions thinly on the diagonal.

  5. 5

Serve the hot mackerel topped with the daikon and green onions. Add a squeeze of lemon or a sprinkle of sesame seeds if you like.
