- 1.5 cups sugar
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup butter
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two 9 inch round cake pans and line bottoms with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1.5 cups sugar, 1 tbsp baking powder, and 0.5 tsp salt.

Add 0.5 cup softened butter, 1 cup milk, 2 eggs, and 2 tsp vanilla. Beat with an electric mixer on medium until smooth, about 2 minutes.

Divide batter evenly between pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean, 25-30 minutes.

Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
