Ingredients

  • 4 links (about 1 lb) krainer wurst (or spiced pork sausages)
  • 2 large yellow onion
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ cup beef or chicken broth
  • ½ tsp caraway seeds
  • 4 tbsp whole-grain mustard, for serving

Instructions

  1. 1

Slice onions into thin half-moons, about 1/4-inch thick.

  2. 2

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until it shimmers, ~90 seconds.

  3. 3

Add krainer wurst and cook 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned and cooked through.

  4. 4

Transfer sausages to a plate. Add onions to the same skillet.

  5. 5

Cook onions 6-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and caramelized at the edges.

  6. 6

Stir in caraway seeds and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

  7. 7

Pour in broth, scrape up browned bits, and return sausages to the skillet.

  8. 8

Simmer 3-4 minutes until liquid reduces slightly and flavors meld.

  9. 9

Divide sausages and onions among plates. Serve with whole-grain mustard on the side.
