Ingredients
- 1 tbsp matcha powder
- ⅓ cup hot water
- ½ tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk or milk alternative
- 1 cup ice cubes
Instructions
- 1
Sift 1 tbsp of matcha powder into a small bowl to break up any lumps, ensuring a smooth latte without grit. This takes about 30 seconds and prevents clumping when whisking.
- 2
Heat 0.33 cup of water to 160–170 °F (just below boiling). Pour the hot water into the matcha bowl and whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk or small wire whisk for 30–45 seconds until the matcha is fully dissolved and foamy on top.
- 3
Stir in 0.5 tbsp of sugar into the matcha mixture until dissolved, about 10 seconds. Taste and adjust sweetness if desired.
- 4
Fill two glasses with ice cubes and divide the matcha mixture between them. Pour 0.5 cup of cold milk into each glass, stir well to combine, and serve immediately while the drink is cold and creamy.
