Ingredients

  • ½ lb pork shoulder or butt, thinly sliced
  • ½ lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 6 oz rice noodles (bánh hỏi or thin rice vermicelli)
  • 6 cups chicken or seafood broth
  • 2 tbsp fish sauce
  • 4 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp green onions (scallions), chopped
  • 3 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

    Bring broth to a boil in a large pot over medium-high heat.

    Add minced garlic and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.

    Add pork slices, stirring to separate; cook 3 minutes until opaque.

    Add shrimp and cook 2 minutes until pink and firm.

    Stir in fish sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt or fish sauce.

    Divide noodles between two bowls and ladle hot broth and meat over top.

    Garnish with green onions and cilantro. Serve immediately.
