Ingredients
- 8 cups apple cider
- 1 whole orange
- 1 whole lemon
- 4 whole cinnamon sticks
- 1 tablespoon whole cloves
- 2 whole star anise
- 2 tablespoons honey
Instructions
- 1
Pour the 8 cups apple cider into a large pot. Add the 4 cinnamon sticks, 1 tablespoon whole cloves, and 2 star anise.
- 2
Slice the 1 orange and 1 lemon into thin rounds. Add the slices to the pot, squeezing gently to release their juices.
- 3
Bring the cider to a boil over high heat, then reduce to low. Simmer uncovered until deeply fragrant and slightly reduced, about 20 minutes.
- 4
Stir in the 2 tablespoons honey until dissolved. Taste and add more honey if you prefer a sweeter cider.
- 5
Strain the cider through a fine-mesh sieve into a heatproof pitcher or directly into mugs. Discard the solids.
- 6
Serve hot, garnishing each mug with a fresh cinnamon stick or orange slice if you like.
