Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 can (28 oz) canned crushed tomatoes
  • ¼ cup red wine
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1

Mix ground beef, panko, 1 tsp salt, and 0.5 tsp black pepper in a bowl until just combined.

  2. 2

Shape into 12 meatballs (roughly golf-ball size) and set aside on a plate.

  3. 3

Heat 2 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, then add meatballs in a single layer.

  4. 4

Sear meatballs 2 minutes per side without moving, then pour in crushed tomatoes, wine, oregano, and cinnamon.

  5. 5

Simmer uncovered for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and meatballs are cooked through.

  6. 6

Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve hot with crusty bread or over rice.
