Ingredients
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (2 cans)
- 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled and diced small
- 2 tsp cinnamon (divided)
- 3 tbsp granulated sugar (divided)
- 2 cups neutral cooking oil (for frying)
- 2 tbsp butter (for glaze)
Instructions
- 1
Toss diced apples with 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 tbsp sugar until evenly coated.
- 2
Unroll crescent dough and separate into triangles. Press two triangles together to form a rectangle, then flatten gently with your palm.
- 3
Spoon apple mixture onto one half of the dough rectangle, leaving a 1/4-inch border. Fold dough over and crimp edges with a fork to seal.
- 4
Heat oil in a deep skillet to 325°F (or until a cube of dough sizzles immediately when dropped in).
- 5
Fry pies 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Work in batches; do not crowd the pan.
- 6
Transfer to a paper towel. Brush warm pies with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar while still hot.
Tools you’ll need
- medium bowl
- deep skillet or Dutch oven (at least 3 inches deep)
- cooking thermometer (optional but recommended)
- slotted spoon or spider skimmer
- paper towels
- fork (for crimping)
