Ingredients
- 1 medium head green cabbage
- 1 lb ground pork
- ½ cup white rice (uncooked)
- 1 medium onion
- 28 oz canned tomato sauce
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 to taste salt and black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cut out the cabbage core and submerge the whole head to soften leaves, ~8 minutes, then carefully peel off 8 intact leaves.
- 2
Dice the onion finely. In a bowl, mix ground pork, uncooked rice, diced onion, 0.5 tsp salt, and 0.25 tsp pepper until just combined.
- 3
Place about 3 tbsp of pork filling on the center of each cabbage leaf. Fold in sides and roll tightly from the stem end to create a compact roll.
- 4
In the same pot, pour out water and return it to heat. Mix tomato sauce and beef broth together, then pour into the pot.
- 5
Arrange the rolls seam-side down in the sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer, cover, and cook for 35 minutes until pork is no longer pink inside.
- 6
Taste and adjust salt and pepper. Serve rolls with sauce spooned over top.
