Ingredients

  • 12 oz mushrooms, cremini or button
  • 3 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 tsp, chopped fresh thyme
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 slices crusty bread
  • 1 to taste salt and black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

    Slice mushrooms into 1/4-inch-thick pieces.

  2. 2

Toast bread slices until golden brown, ~3 minutes per side.

  3. 3

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until shimmering, ~90 seconds.

  4. 4

Add mushrooms in a single layer. Don't stir for 3 minutes—let them brown.

  5. 5

Stir once, breaking up any stuck pieces. Cook until mushrooms release liquid and reabsorb it, ~4 minutes total.

  6. 6

Add garlic and thyme. Cook until fragrant, about 45 seconds.

  7. 7

Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  8. 8

Divide warm mushrooms evenly over toast. Serve immediately.
