Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- ¼ cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, combine 1 lb ground beef, 0.5 cup breadcrumbs, 1 egg, 2 minced garlic cloves, and 1 tbsp soy sauce. Mix until just combined; do not overwork.
- 2
Shape the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs, about 12 total. Place them on a plate.
- 3
Heat 1 cup vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high until shimmering, about 350°F. Carefully add meatballs in a single layer, not crowding the pan.
- 4
Fry the meatballs, turning occasionally, until browned all over and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. They should feel firm and reach 160°F inside.
- 5
In a small bowl, whisk together 0.25 cup ketchup, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, and remaining 1 tbsp soy sauce for the dipping sauce.
- 6
Remove meatballs with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with the dipping sauce.
- 7
Optional: sprinkle with chopped green onions or sesame seeds if you have them.
