Ingredients

  • 1.5 cans (15 oz each) canned fava beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 whole lemon, halved
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 pinch salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 pieces pita bread
  • 1 cup each tomato and cucumber, sliced

Instructions

    Combine drained fava beans, minced garlic, cumin, olive oil, juice from half the lemon, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

    Mash with a fork until creamy but with some small chunks remaining.

    Warm pita bread in a skillet 30 seconds per side until soft and pliable.

    Open pita and spread a generous spoonful of ful paste into the pocket.

    Stuff with tomato and cucumber slices.

    Squeeze remaining lemon half over the filling. Serve warm.
