Ingredients
- 1 pound frozen edamame in pods, unthawed
- 8 cups water
- 1 teaspoon sea salt, flaky (such as Maldon)
Instructions
- 1
Fill a medium pot with 8 cups of water and set it on the stove over high heat, uncovered, until large bubbles break the surface rapidly—about 5 to 7 minutes.
- 2
Pour the frozen edamame pods into the boiling water all at once, stir once with a spoon, and let them return to a boil, about 2 minutes.
- 3
Once boiling again, reduce heat to medium and cook the edamame uncovered for 4 to 5 minutes until the pods are tender when squeezed gently and the beans inside feel soft when bitten.
- 4
Place a colander in your sink and carefully pour the edamame into it to drain all the water, shaking gently to remove excess liquid.
- 5
Transfer the warm edamame to a serving bowl and sprinkle 1 teaspoon of flaky sea salt evenly over the pods, tossing gently to distribute.
- 6
Serve immediately while still warm, with small bowls or napkins nearby for discarding empty pods.
