Ingredients

  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 4 slices (1-inch thick) brioche or challah, sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon sugar or maple syrup, for serving

Instructions

    Whisk eggs, milk, and vanilla in a shallow bowl until combined.

    Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat until it foams, ~90 seconds.

    Working with 2 slices at a time, dip bread into custard for 2 seconds per side — don't oversoak.

    Place dipped slices in the skillet and cook until golden brown and crispy, 3–4 minutes per side.

    Transfer cooked toast to a plate and repeat with remaining bread and custard.

    Dust with cinnamon sugar or drizzle with maple syrup. Serve immediately.
