- ¾ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 1.5 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup milk

Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment.

In a bowl, mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, and 1/4 cup cold butter with your fingers until crumbly. Set aside for topping.

In another bowl, whisk remaining 1/2 cup flour, 1/2 cup brown sugar, baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Cut in remaining 1/4 cup butter until pea-sized.
