Ingredients

  • 4 slices White bread slices
  • 150 g French ham, sliced
  • 100 g Emmental cheese, sliced
  • 4 tablespoons Béchamel sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons Butter, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon Sea salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon Black pepper

Instructions

  1. 1

Lay out 4 bread slices on a clean surface. Lightly spread Dijon mustard on two of the slices.

  2. 2

Layer ham and Emmental cheese on the mustard-spread slices, dividing equally. Top each with the remaining bread slices to form two sandwiches.

  3. 3

Spread softened butter on the outer sides of each sandwich. Season with sea salt and black pepper.

  4. 4

Heat a 10-inch cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat for 2 minutes until hot.

  5. 5

Place sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

Carefully flip and cook the other side for another 3–4 minutes until golden and the cheese is melted inside.

  7. 7

Transfer to a cutting board, cut diagonally in half, and serve immediately while hot.
