Ingredients
- 8 oz tempeh
- 3 tbsp neutral oil for frying
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sambal oelek or chili paste
- ½ whole lime
- 2 stalks green onion, sliced

Slice tempeh 1/4-inch thick, then cut each slab into 3-inch rectangles.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high until it shimmers, about 90 seconds.

Add tempeh in a single layer and fry 3 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Work in batches if needed.

Push tempeh to the side. Add garlic and sambal to the oil and cook 30 seconds until fragrant.
