Ingredients

  • 3 tbsp lard or rendered pork fat
  • 8 oz crusty bread or dense white bread, cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 4 oz sliced ham, chopped into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 whole green onions, thinly sliced
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ⅛ tsp black pepper

Instructions

    Heat lard in a large skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering, about 1 minute.

    Add bread cubes and stir occasionally until golden brown and crispy on all sides, ~5 minutes.

    Scatter chopped ham over the bread and toss until heated through, ~1 minute.

    Remove from heat and stir in green onions, salt, and pepper.

    Transfer to a serving plate and serve hot.
