Ingredients

  • ½ lb ground beef
  • ¼ cup yellow onion, finely diced
  • 12 pieces wonton wrappers
  • ½ tsp ginger, minced
  • ½ tsp cumin
  • ½ cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 cup fresh spinach leaves

Instructions

  1. 1

Brown ground beef with diced onion, ginger, and cumin in a skillet over medium-high heat, breaking up meat, ~5 minutes.

  2. 2

Fill each wonton wrapper with 1 tsp beef mixture, wet two edges with water, fold into a triangle, then seal corners.

  3. 3

Heat 2 inches of oil in a heavy pot to 350°F (a bread cube sizzles immediately but doesn't burn).

  4. 4

Fry sambusos 2–3 per batch, 2 minutes per side until deep golden brown, then drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

Arrange spinach on a plate, top with warm sambusos, and serve with sweet chili sauce for dipping.
