Ingredients

  • 2 pieces (about 6 oz each) chicken breast
  • 1 lb, thinly sliced russet potato
  • 1 cup gruyère or emmental cheese, grated
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 1 clove garlic clove, minced
  • 1 pinch, to taste salt and black pepper

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 425°F. Pat chicken dry and season all over with salt and pepper.

    Arrange potato slices in a buttered 10-inch baking dish, overlapping slightly.

    Whisk cream, garlic, and half the cheese in a bowl. Pour over potatoes.

    Nestle chicken breasts on top of potatoes. Sprinkle remaining cheese over chicken.

    Bake until chicken is cooked through (165°F internal temp) and potatoes are tender and golden, 16–18 minutes.
