Ingredients

  • 1 ball store-bought pizza dough (1 lb ball)
  • ½ lb Italian sausage, spicy
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup whole-milk mozzarella, shredded
  • 4 cloves garlic (4 cloves, minced)
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

    Preheat oven to 425°F. Brown sausage in a skillet over medium-high, breaking it up, until no pink remains, ~5 minutes. Drain excess fat.

    Stir ricotta, mozzarella, and red pepper flakes into the cooked sausage. Mix until combined, then remove from heat.

    Stretch dough into an 8-inch circle on parchment paper. Spoon filling onto one half, leaving a 1-inch border.

    Fold dough in half over filling and crimp the edges tightly with a fork to seal.

    Mix minced garlic with 2 tbsp olive oil and a pinch of salt. Brush mixture over the calzone top.
